The Aygo drives reasonably well, too. The handling is adequate as long as you don’t push it too hard around corners, and although the ride is firm, it shouldn’t upset occupants too much. The Aygo is definitely at its best in the city. The compact dimensions and perky engines make it ideal for zipping through crowded streets. Put the Aygo on a motorway, though, and you’ll find that refinement takes a nosedive. It isn’t the most practical car, either. The boot is minuscule and awkward to load, and the rear seats are short on both head- and legroom.

Running Costs
It might cost you a little more to buy than similar-sized cars of the same age because the Aygo’s funky looks and desirability mean it holds onto its value better than any other city car. Still, the Aygo is far from expensive. Running costs are where the big savings are made. Both engines carry a group 1 insurance rating, so premiums will be rock-bottom. Fuel economy is excellent, too. The petrol returns an average of 61.4mpg, and the diesel is even better. Returning an average of 68.9mpg, it’s capable of travelling over 530 miles between fill-ups. Servicing will also cost you less than it will with most other city cars.
