These days, Citroën’s range is an interesting mix of conventional and quirky, but the bit that’s been left behind is the company’s reputation for patchy quality. The C2 and the Fiesta-sized C3 are both simple and strong enough to make them a popular choice for young drivers, while the C4 is a stylish and accomplished Focus alternative.
At the top of the range the C6 is arguably the used car deal of the century – if you can find one. Brand perceptions can be exploited by Citroën buyers. The Peugeot 107 and Toyota Aygo are both more expensive than the identical C1, thanks to badge snobbery and Citroën UK’s policy of cashback-style selling. If you know the difference between the headline RRP of a new Citroën and what the first buyer would have actually paid, you’ll be well placed to get a used bargain. It’s hard to keep track of that kind of information, so just be aware that there could be up to a 20% difference between the two.
